Harman Kardon DVD 25 Upgrade - Remove Region Coding restrictions. Back

This upgrade will:

  • Remove Region Coding restrictions, allowing DVDs from any region to be played.
  • Provide Progressive Scan to improve resolution, contrast and jitter (digital noise) by around 30% when playing DVDs through PAL Plasma screens and projectors. Very few other DVD players offer this capability, and most that do cost upwards of £1000.
This software upgrade has been thoroughly tested and is known to work correctly. It is therefore imperative that you follow the instructions to the letter as we regret that we are unable to offer technical support via this web site. We can accept no responsibility for download errors howsoever caused or errors caused by CD-ROMs burned at incorrect speeds.

!! IMPORTANT NOTE !!
This software update only works on the International, 230 V version of the DVD 25, and NOT on the 110V American version. The International version can be recognized by the SCART video output on the back.
If your DVD 25 does not have this Scart Video output, please do not run this update.

To Create The Patch CD
  1. Click on the 'dvd25_upgrade' icon above to download the ZIP file.
  2. Unzip the file, creating two .bin files: 'hkdvd25.bin' and 'dvd25_2.bin'.
  3. Using 1 x copy speed, burn the files on a CD-ROM in a folder called hk_dvd25.
To Run The Patch CD
  1. Connect DVD via Composite connection to a video monitor (TV, Plasma, Projector etc.)
  2. Empty DVD tray
  3. Switch DVD to STANDBY
  4. Point remote handset at DVD and press the 'CLEAR' button, after 5-7 sec. the DVD will switch to 'ON'
  5. Place upgrade CD-ROM in tray and close tray
  6. Follow instruction on screen
  7. When upgrade process is complete the DVD will switch itself to 'STANDBY'
  8. Point remote handset at DVD and press the 'CLEAR' button, after 5-7 sec. the DVD will switch to 'ON'
  9. Open tray and remove CD-ROM disc
  10. The upgrade is complete
